Composição florística de veredas no Município de Uberlândia, MG

Abstract: -(Floristic composition of palm swamp communities near Uberlândia, Minas Gerais, Brazil). Over a two-year period, four palm swamp communities near Uberlândia, MG, Brazil, were studied for their floristic composition. Transects were randomly established to cross the following zones: palm swamp border (dryish soils), middle area (intermediate soil moisture), and lower zone (with permanently satured soils). The transects were censused each month and voucher herbarium specimens were collected and identified by mea… Show more

“…However, the number of families represented by a single species was high, both at preserved (18) and at impacted (13) sites. According to Araújo et al (2002), a large number of families with a single species are restricted to wetter environments, which may be due to their potentially higher sensitivity to anthropogenic disturbance. The differences observed in fl oristic composition between the study sites may have refl ected differences in the level of environmental degradation.…”

“…The type of soils found at the studied sites may be related to relief, as observed by Ramos et al (2006), who reported a gradual change from a Mesic Histosol to a Haplic Gleisol. In this study, the sites were located in fl atter zones, , because only the lowest area of vereda's systems (lower area, according to ARAÚJO et al, 2002) was sampled. This area was characterized by swampy, water saturated soil, and thicker vegetation.…”
