-(Floristic composition of palm swamp communities near Uberlândia, Minas Gerais, Brazil). Over a two-year period, four palm swamp communities near Uberlândia, MG, Brazil, were studied for their floristic composition. Transects were randomly established to cross the following zones: palm swamp border (dryish soils), middle area (intermediate soil moisture), and lower zone (with permanently satured soils). The transects were censused each month and voucher herbarium specimens were collected and identified by means of keys, comparisons with identified material at HUFU, IBGE and UB, and with the help of specialists for some families. Voucher specimens were deposited at HUFU. A total of 526 species, 250 genera and 89 families were collected. The five families with highest number of species were: Poaceae (64), Asteraceae (63), Cyperaceae (54), Melastomataceae (27) e Fabaceae (23). In the palm swamp border, 361 species were collected, 168 of which were exclusive to this zone. A total of 300 species were collected in the middle zone, of which 75 were exclusive to this area. The lower zone had the lowest species diversity, with 52 exclusive species from a total of 136 taxa. The great richness found in the palm swamp possibly is due to soil differences, especially those related to humidity.
-(Thelypteris subg. Goniopteris and Meniscium (Thelypteridaceae) of the Ecological Station of Panga, Uberlândia, Minas Gerais, Brazil). This paper presents the taxonomic treatment for the species of Thelypteris, subgenera Goniopteris and Meniscium, collected in the Ecological Station of Panga. Thelypteridaceae is one of the richest families in the area, with 14 species of Thelypteris segregated in four subgenera (Amauropelta, Cyclosorus, Goniopteris, and Meniscium).
-(Blechnaceae of the Ecological Station of Panga, Uberlândia, Minas Gerais State, Brazil). This paper provides the taxonomic treatment for the species of Blechnaceae of the Ecological Station of Panga. This Ecological Station covers an area of 409.5 hectares located about 30 km far from the city of Uberlândia, Minas Gerais State, Brazil. It is one of the few areas of the region with natural vegetation with different savannah physiognomies and forest formations. One genus and four species of Blechnaceae (Blechnum brasiliense Desv., B. lanceola Sw., B. occidentale L., and B. regnellianum (Kunze) C. Chr.) were found. Identification key, descriptions, illustrations of diagnostic characters of the species, geographical distribution, and comments are presented. Key words: Blechnaceae, ferns, savannah RESUMO -(Blechnaceae da Estação Ecológica do Panga, Uberlândia, Estado de Minas Gerais, Brasil). -(Macrothelypteris and Thelypteris subg. Cyclosorus (Thelypteridaceae) of "Estação Ecológica do Panga", Uberlândia, Minas Gerais, Brazil). A floristic survey of pteridophytes of "Estação Ecológica do Panga" has been carried out since 1986. This Ecological Station covers an area of 409.5 hectares between the geographical coordinates 19°09'20"-19°11'10" S and 48°23'20"-48°24'35" W, it is situated about 30 km South of Uberlândia, at 740-840 m in elevation. This area is considered representative of the natural remnant vegetation of the region, being covered by different savannah physiognomies from open grassland to dense woodlands and forest formations. In this survey, 52 species of pteridophytes were found, 14 of them belonging to Macrothelypteris and Thelypteris genera (Thelypteridaceae). The species of Thelypteris are including in four subgenera (Amauropelta, Goniopteris, Cyclosorus, and Meniscium). Putative hybrid specimens between Thelypteris dentata (Forssk.) E. St. John and T. hispidula (Decne.) C. F. Reed were also recorded. The collected specimens are deposited in the herbaria HUFU, SP, and UC. The taxonomic treatment for the species of the genera Macrothelypteris and Thelypteris subg. Cyclosorus recorded in the area is presented. Field observations showed that the group occurs mostly in gallery forest and wetlands in the Panga area. Some species of subgenus Cyclosorus have showed large morphological variation in the study area. Keys for genera, subgenera and species are also presented.Key words -Cyclosorus, Macrothelypteris, Pteridophyta, savannah, Thelypteridaceae RESUMO -(Macrothelypteris e Thelypteris subg.
