O delineamento experime… Show more

“…This is discussed below. The number of branches, racemes and total pods are the most important components for yield, and exhibit the highest correlation with the total yield (Pires et al, 2002;Perini et al, 2012). In the Conquista cultivar, the number of branches/plant decreased by 18.5% in T3 compared to T1 (Table 1).…”

“…In cultivars of determinate growth habit, the apical meristem stops the differentiation of new leaves after floral induction, while in cultivars of indeterminate growth habit, the differentiation of leaves occurs over some time after the floral induction (Tanaka & Shiraiwa, 2009). In the last years, the search for soybean cultivars with indeterminate growth significantly increased in Brazil (Perini et al, 2012). This is due to the necessity of earlier sowing dates to allow of both the corn sowing as a second-crop and the reduction of the damage caused by Asian soybean rust, as plants with indeterminate growth habit have a more open canopy, which enables pesticide application to more easily reach the lower third of the plant.…”

“…1000-grain weight variation is mainly linked to genetic characteristics of each cultivar, as there are cultivars that have fewer grains per plant, although they have positive response in the direction of assimilates for grain filling, resulting in higher grain matter (Perini et al, 2012). Pipolo et al (2005) found that there is high variation among soybean cultivars for 1000-grain weight.…”
