“…The absence of strongly bound π‐acceptor ligands like carbon monoxide, the removal of which often requires photochemical or thermal activation, is an advantage especially in combination with enough thermal stability for convenient storage in the laboratory. Complex 1 was used for the synthesis of pentamethylcyclopentadienyliron(II) half‐sandwich or sandwich complexes with olefin ligands, indenyl ligands, functionalized pyrrolide rings for use as pincer ligands, pentalene ligands for use as building blocks, phospholyl ligands, naphthalene, or anthracene bridges between two Cp*Fe moieties, or bridging thiolate ligands for the stoichiometric and catalytic reduction of methylhydrazine .
