Complexation Reaction Using Ammonium Based Chloride Compounds for Preparation of Eutectic Mixtures

Abstract: In this study, we are interested in the eutectic processing of chloride compounds and decided to focus on ammonium based compounds that can provide sufficient insight in the fundamental chemistry. 10 types of ammonium based chloride compounds namely ammonium chloride, methanaminium chloride, dimethylammonium chloride, trimethylammonium chloride, tetramethylammonium chloride, dodecyltrimethylammonium chloride, hexadecyltrimethylammonium chloride, phenyltrimethylammonium chloride, benzyltrimethylammonium chlorid… Show more

“…Absorbance band of 3330 cm −1 was observed which indicates O-H stretching of hydroxyl group. It can be confirmed that all the parental functional groups of choline chloride, urea and glycerin are present in GES (Abbott et al., 2003; Ashworth et al., 2016; Mulia et al., 2015; Shamsuri and Abdullah, 2011). From FTIR spectrum of GES, hydrogen bonding was observed between choline chloride and hydrogen bond donor compounds (Shenai, 1997).…”

“…Methanol solvent peak was observed in the range of δ 45–50 ppm. FTIR and NMR analyses of DES show presence of hydrogen bonding between choline chloride and urea (Abbott et al , 2003; Ashworth et al , 2016; Mulia et al , 2015; Shamsuri and Abdullah, 2011).…”

“…The ChCl/Gly eutectic-based ionic liquid was made via complexation reaction 34,35 in accordance with our earlier publication or can also be prepared as described by other authors. 36,37 The ChCl was mixed with Gly at a mole ratio of 1:2 in a beaker, heated at temperature of 100 C and stirred rigorously by using a magnetic stirrer hot-plate apparatus until a transparent homogeneous liquid was obtained.…”
