Complex network analysis of keywords co-occurrence in the recent efficiency analysis literature

Abstract: A network analysis (NA) of keyword co-occurrences for a broad collection of Data envelopment analysis (DEA) papers in the period 2008-2017 is carried out. The raw keywords have been cleaned up and standardized to consolidate and increase the consistency of the keywords. The resulting network has been characterized using network-level as well as node-level NA measures. Although the size of the network steadily increases with time, the average path length does not, showing its small world character. The disassor… Show more

“…Co-word analysis examines the relationships between keywords to reveal the structure and development of methodologies or applications. The relationships between keywords in research papers "contains valuable information about knowledge structure of the field, its relevant concepts, and their connections" Lozano et al (2019). It is our aim to determine diverse focus areas, methodologies and techniques regarding Big Data-driven climate change analyses and harmonize these to allow better utilization of the achieved field-specific results.…”

“…While this step is essential to get wide coverage of the literature, it is often overlooked in scientometric studies, e.g. [16], [17], [22]. Merging these datasets is not particularly easy because the formatting in each one is different.…”

“…Generally, keywords highlight the core content of a paper, through which we can understand the theme and search engines can find relevant papers easily. By considering the co-occurrence of keywords in several papers, the relationship between the subjects represented by the literature collection can be disclosed (Lozano, Calzada-Infante, Adenso-Díaz, & García, 2019). Here, to facilitate analysis, the parameters were set as follows: the counting method is "Full counting"; the standardized method adopts "Association strength", and the minimum number of occurrences of a keyword is 20.…”
