Complete Mitochondrial Genome of a Tongue Worm Armillifer agkistrodontis

Abstract: Armillifer agkistrodontis (Ichthyostraca: Pantastomida) is a parasitic pathogen, only reported in China, which can cause a zoonotic disease, pentastomiasis. A complete mitochondrial (mt) genome was 16,521 bp comprising 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 tRNA genes, 2 rRNA genes, and 1 non-coding region (NCR). A phylogenetic tree drawn with the concatenated amino acid sequences of the 6 conserved PCGs (atp6, cox1-3, and nad2) showed that A. agkistrodontis and Armillifer armillatus constituted a clade Pentastomi… Show more

“… 2004 ; Li et al. 2016 ), the mitochondrial genome of Armillifer grandis contained an A + T bias with an overall base composition of 34.6% A, 29.4% T, 29% C, and 6,9% G. The gene arrangement of the present mitogenome is identical to those of other pentastomids investigated so far (Lavrov et al. 2004 ; Li et al.…”

“…The complete mitochondrial transcript of Armillifer grandis was 16,073 bp in length and contained 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 2 ribosomal RNA genes, and 22 transfer RNA genes. As described for other pentastomid mitogenomes (Lavrov et al 2004;Li et al 2016), the mitochondrial genome of Armillifer grandis contained an A þ T bias with an overall base composition of 34.6% A, 29.4% T, 29% C, and 6,9% G. “…The complete mitochondrial transcript of L. arctica was 14,789 bp in length and contained 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 2 ribosomal RNA genes and 22 transfer RNA genes. As described for other related pentastomid mitogenomes (Grau et al 2017;Naude et al 2018), the mitochondrial genome of L. arctica contained an A þ T bias with an overall base composition of 32.6% A, 27.5% T, 32.8% C, and 7.1% G. The gene arrangement of the present mitogenome is identical to those of other pentastomids (Lavrov et al 2004;Li et al 2016;Grau et al 2017;Naude et al 2018).…”

“…The lengths of 12S and 16S ribosomal RNA were 537 and 623 base pairs, respectively. The gene arrangement was similar to the complete mitochondrial DNA of Armillifer agkistrodontis (Li et al 2016). The complete Linguatula serrata mitogenome has been deposited at the GenBank under accession no.…”
