“…Nevertheless, the original version of the ISI and the PSQI are the most commonly used, and the original version of the ISI remains the only validated scale that is highly recommended for all insomnia research protocols. Caution thereby should be exercised in generalizing the positive benefits of the current review to DI in these special populations as mentioned.…”

We cannot deny the placebo effect of acupuncture; indeed, in the management of insomnia, positive beliefs, anticipation, and expectations concerning CAM may result in more favorable outcomes and higher satisfaction with CAM, i.e., the placebo effect (19,77). The only concern of those two trials (26,37) is if the acupuncture treatment was sufficient.…”

“…Insomnia co-exists with other common psychiatric disorders such as major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder [ 20 ], and posttraumatic stress disorder [ 21 ]. In Hong Kong, the prevalence of insomnia in the general population was estimated at 11.9% [ 22 ] based on the presence of difficulty initiating sleep, difficulty maintaining sleep, or early-morning awakening occurring at least three nights per week in the past month.…”
