Abstract:The region along the Sea of Japan is unusual in that it has very heavy snow and rather mild winter temperatures. Three major snow-removal technologies currently practised in the region, i.e. use of snow-removal machines, snow-melting pipe system and snow-dumping channel network, are described and their practice, engineering and economical aspects discussed.
