“…However, scientific literature about performance analysis in this sport is scarce. Of the few studies published on match variables, the most considered is the “home advantage” (HA) effect ( Arboix-Alió and Aguilera-Castells, 2019 ; Arboix-Alió et al, 2020 ; Gómez et al, 2011 ) showing an approximate value of 60%, similar to other team sports. Other studies have analyzed variables such as the fact of “scoring the first goal of the match” ( Arboix-Alió and Aguilera-Castells, 2018 ), goalkeepers’ performance ( Sousa et al, 2020 ; Trabal et al, 2019a , 2020), the winning halftime effect or the context’s influence in free direct hits ( Trabal et al, 2020 ).…”

“…Traditionally in soccer it is expected that since a team plays in their own “home,” they will already have an advantage in terms of results because they have the support of the fans. Coaches and players believe in the advantage of playing at home ( Snyder and Purdy, 1985 ; Arboix Alió et al, 2020 ), and about that one player said, “The pressure of the spectators at home usually influences the performance of the team, which falls in production when is not supported.” Diana et al (2017) evaluated the game structure in different contexts (home and away) and showed that the game location strongly influences the game tactics. Another stressor, especially for Brazilian players, is related to positive emotion when playing a derby.…”

“…Match location had no significant interaction in the effect of scoring more set-pieces than the opposing team on the odds of won matches. Surprisingly, it seems that hockey players do not benefit from individual set-pieces in the home advantage (HA) effect, reported to be around 60% in rink hockey [ 7 , 13 ]. The present results agree with previous investigations, which reported no influence of match location in either rink hockey [ 5 , 23 ] or ice hockey [ 24 ].…”

“…Like other sports, the increasing social interest and economic impact of team sports have resulted in several studies about the influence of the match variables on the final outcome [ 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 ]. In recent years, research focused on rink hockey match variables and other performance indicators has risen considerably [ 5 , 6 , 7 ]. In this vein, match analysis appears to be widely accepted by players, coaches and sports scientists as an important source of information to analyze and subsequently improve sports performance [ 8 , 9 ].…”
