Comparison of Experimental Diabetic Periodontitis Induced byPorphyromonas gingivalisin Mice

Abstract: Periodontitis is one of the severe complications in diabetic patients and gingival epithelium plays an initial role on the onset and progression of this disease. However the potential mechanism is yet sufficiently understood. Meanwhile, the research on the correlational experimental animal models was also insufficient. Here, we established periodontitis with type 2 diabetes in db/db and Tallyho/JngJ (TH) mice and periodontitis with type 1 diabetes in streptozotocin induced diabetes C57BL/6J (STZ-C57) mice by o… Show more

“…After three passages of cultivation, the pure culture was inoculated in liquid brain heart infusion broth medium and cultured for 48 hours at 37°C anaerobically. A total of 10 9 colony‐forming units of live bacteria were dispersed in 100‐µL phosphate‐buffered saline (PBS) containing 2% carboxymethylcellulose . The DP and DPM groups were orally inoculated with 100‐µL bacterial fluid three times every other day within 5 days at the same time as the STZ injection.…”

“…The nuclear variant translocates to the cytoplasm in response to proinflammatory stimuli. PTPN2 has been implicated in the regulation of insulin signaling and glucose homeostasis [ 18 , 19 ] and is also associated with chronic inflammatory and autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA) [ 20 ], Crohn's disease [ 21 ], periodontitis [ 22 ], and type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) [ 23 ]. In humans, PTPN2 shows a negative association with inflammatory disease [ 21 , 24 ].…”
