Abstract:Dynamic image and pulsed Doppler ultrasonography were used to evaluate 104 potentially growth-retarded fetuses. The two techniques were compared, and then used together to predict whether or not the neonate would be growth retarded. Both ultrasonic diagnostic techniques showed good correlation with neonatal outcome, but their combined use improved diagnostic accuracy.
“…At each visit, an ultrasound scan monitored fetal growth: intrauterine growth retardation (IUGR) was defined as an estimated weight Ͻ10th percentile (Singh, 2002). In addition, at each visit, Doppler ultrasound of the uterine and umbilical vessels was done to calculate the resistance index (Ott, 1990) and the total DVS.…”
An integrated approach to yoga during pregnancy is safe. It improves birth weight, decreases preterm labor, and decreases IUGR either in isolation or associated with PIH, with no increased complications.

“…True IUGR caused by abnormalities in uteroplacental perfusion is characterized by selective changes in peripheral vascular resistance that can be evaluated using any of the angle-independent indices of Doppler velocity flow studies in the fetal peripheral vessels [112]. The author's experience has shown that umbilical artery Doppler velocity studies have been a significant help in the diagnosis and management of IUGR [13,111].…”
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
