“…Glutathione s-transferase activity recorded signi cantly higher in Bahawalpur population (42.25 µ moles/mint/ml) and Multan population (30.9425 µ moles/mint/ml) followed by Jhang (19.9625 µ moles/mint/ml) and Toba Tek Singh (18.5325 µ moles/mint/ml). The activity in both districts Jhang and Toba Tek Singh recorded signi cantly lower.Similarly,Xu et al (2014) found similar results and measured the higher activity of GST in resistant populations as compared to susceptible strain. Literature unveiled the role of GST in detoxi cation of endogenous and xenobiotic compounds including organophosphates and organochlorine insecticides(Pavlidi et al 2018).…”

“…This species is considered to belong to a cryptic species complex with more than 40 morphotypes distributed across the biotypes, with the B- and Q-biotypes being the most important (Tang et al, 2018). The whitefly is of economic importance due to its direct (by sapping plant fluids and vectoring plant pathogens) and indirect (phytosanitary and quarantine measures) damage to crops (De Barro, 2011; Xu et al, 2014). Its control mainly relies on chemical pesticide application, which has resulted in the development of insecticide resistance.…”

“…In addition, resistance to insecticides occurs in response to continuous sprayings, and an increasing number of insecticides have become ineffective with the invasion of new B. tabaci biotypes (Q) into new parts of the world (Luo et al, 2010). These insects also induce different detoxification enzymes as a defense strategy when facing a variety of changes in their hosts (Xu et al, 2014). Due to the dramatic increase in abundance, the costs and the difficulties managing B. tabaci exclusively with chemical insecticides, there is an enormous demand for the development of new strategies to control whiteflies.…”
