Comparison between Edge Detection Techniques

Abstract: Edge is the foremost feature of the image. Edges can be defined as boundary between regions in an image. Edge detection refers to the process of identifying and locating sharp discontinuities in an image. Edge detection process reduces the amount of data and filters out useless information, while preserving the necessary structural properties in an image. In this paper, the main purpose is to study edge detection process based on different techniques.

“…Another popular two colorless traffic sign detection methods are edge detection features and Haar-like features. Edge detection refers to the process of identifying and locating sharp discontinuities in an image [62]. By using this method, image data is simplified for the purpose of minimizing the amount of data to be processed.…”

“…Therefore, numerous classificationsof pulp disease had only identified by a limited number of clinical diagnostic testsbefore effective dental treatment is performed [11]. Therefore, our research interest was aimed to identify the regionsof interest which is the affected pulp necrotic tooth itself, from the radiographsby applying edges as basis image features, the texture description and the modifiedactive contour model for feature extraction [12, 13].…”
