Comparative study on the catalytic properties of amino-functionalized silica materials for the transesterification of dimethyl oxalate with phenol

Show more

“…Therefore, the basic strength could be ordered N3‐ZY‐30‐3 > N2‐ZY‐30‐3 > N1‐ZY‐30‐3. The CO 2 ‐TPD results suggest that the alkyl chain length and number of amino groups correlated with the basic strength, where the basic strength was greater with increasing alkyl chain length and number of amino groups in the amine molecule, as reported previously . According to the Lewis base principle, the organic base, containing electron‐donating groups, can stabilize the cation and increase the basic strength.…”

“…The catalysts have turnover frequencies of 0.9, 6.75 and 1.45 h −1 for NH 2 -MTS, NN-MTS and DN-MTS catalysts respectively. The yields are relatively low compared to some reported esterification reaction (yields of above 40%) using other amine-functionalized ordered mesoporous silica, however different esterification substrates were used [38,39].…”

“…Along with periodic mesoporous silica, the development of chiral PMOs by utilizing chiral bridging organosilane ligands has received much attention as they have found numerous applications in catalysis and chromatography . In particular, organic‐ functionalized molecular sieves have been used in transesterifications, Knoevenagel reactions, epoxidation of cyclooctene, cyano‐ethoxy carbonylation, flavanone synthesis, and aldol condensation . They have also been employed as metal ion (Fe 2+ and Co 3+ ) scavengers and the support for the noble metals (e. g., Rh) .…”
