In this work, 9,10-diphenylanthracene
(DPA) crystals in centimeter
size were grown by melt as well as solution methods. The optical properties
of both crystals were investigated using X-ray stimulated luminescence
spectra. The strongest emission wavelengths are around 454 and 469
nm for DPA-Melt and DPA-Solution, respectively, a longer wavelength
than that of stilbene. The scintillation properties were measured
with a digitizer and pulse shape discrimination method. The crystal
by melt method got the largest light yield of 1.1, as compared to
that of stilbene. Meanwhile, the pulse-shape discrimination properties
of the crystal by melt method is better than that of the other crystal.
