Comparative morphological and anatomical characters of Cakile arabica from different habitat in eastern region of Saudi Arabia

Abstract: Morphological, anatomical and physiological plasticity was examined for from three different sites at the coastal part of the Arabian Gulf near Ad Dammam city in the eastern region of Saudi Arabia. Morphological investigation showed that the size and number of lobes of the leaves are increased in sites (I) which have high salt stress. Also anatomical investigation using a light microscope showed that the plant is adaptive for salt stress by increasing the thickening of the cuticle or epidermis layer and increa… Show more

“…Since plant is present in hot‐dry environment, smooth surfaces of the epidermal cells and other structural organs act as a light reflector and prevent from heat stress. Salt deposition on the outer surfaces of structure present excretion of excess salts as an adaptive measure in salt stressed conditions (Al‐Taisan & Gabr, 2017; Nazish et al, 2022).…”

“…Morphological and anatomical studies of the studied species are very scarce Al-Taisan and Gabr, (2017). The main objective for this paper is to prove the presence of any differences between the two studied species.…”
