Comparative effects of different types of tank‐mixed adjuvants on the efficacy, absorption and translocation of cyhalofop‐butyl in barnyardgrass (Echinochloa crus‐galli [L.] Beauv.)

Abstract: The efficacy of cyhalofop-butyl with tank-mixed adjuvants on barnyardgrass (Echinochloa crus-galli [L.] Beauv.), as well as the physico-chemical properties, absorption and translocation, was evaluated and compared. The efficacy experiment showed that the treatments with tank-mixed adjuvants were approximately twofold more effective than with cyhalofop-butyl alone at 2% (v/v) (silwet 625 at 0.05%). The surface tension decreased and the droplets could spread automatically on the leaves after adding the adjuvants… Show more

“…However, such a bioassay obviously does not consider the effect of the adjuvant on many other parameters of the herbicidal formulation, which are important in the practice, such as the droplet formation and plant surface coverage, the drift and evaporation of spraying mixture, etc. [ 25 , 43 , 44 ]. It can partially explain the differences in sensitivity of leaf segments and whole plants to three phytotoxic nonenolides in 0.1% Hasten™.…”

“…Lan et al found that addition of a spray adjuvant resulted in significantly lower airborne drift [37] . Meanwhile, the adjuvants had a considerable influence on the efficiency [38] . This is probably due to the improvement of the wetting and extending properties of defoliant droplets on the water sensitive paper, resulting in a large reading droplet size.…”
