Automation technologies have the potential to reduce operations and maintenance costs, ensure reliable power generation and safety, and thereby contribute to extending the lifespan of nuclear power plants. To fulfill this aspiration, automation behaviors have to be understandable and predictable to human operators and traceable for license holders and regulators in the event of automation failures. The current report investigates how automation transparency as a systems design principle can keep operators sufficiently informed about the inner workings of automation or make fail-safe automation run invisibly in the background to free up operator capacity.

With the global energy crisis, increasing demand, and a national-level emphasis on electric vehicles (EVs), numerous innovations are being witnessed throughout the EV industry. EVs are equipped with sensors that maintain a sustainable environment for the betterment of society and enhance human sustainability. However, at the same time, as is the case for any new digital technology, they are susceptible to threats to security and privacy. Recent incidents demonstrate that these sensors have been misused for car and energy theft, financial fraud, data compromise, and have caused severe health and safety problems, amongst other things. To the best of our knowledge, this paper provides a first systematic analysis of EV sustainability, digital technologies that enhance sustainability, their potential cybersecurity threats, and corresponding defense. Firstly, three robust taxonomies have been presented to identify the dangers that can affect long-term sustainability domains, including (1) life and well-being, (2) safe environment, and (3) innovation and development. Second, this research measures the impact of cybersecurity threats on EVs and correspondingly to their sustainability goals. Third, it details the extent to which specific security controls can mitigate these threats, thereby allowing for a smooth transition toward secure and sustainable future smart cities.

Today in the Brazilian cargo vehicle industry, there is a technological research for solutions to meet the CONTRAN Resolution 641:2016 [1], which made mandatory stability and anti-rollover control systems in cargo trailers and semitrailers in Brazil after 2024. Even though the government concern to reduce the truck's rollover accidents indices is very pertinent, there is another frequent occurrence which still don't have an efficient technological solution for it controls. By the way, in many cases, it is the main cause of the rollover accidents on long cargo vehicles: The Trailer Swing Effect.This paper presents an applicability study of innovative sensors for the vehicle articulation (fifth wheel). These sensors will monitor the vehicle dynamics for identifying the Trailer Swing Effect. This technology will be fully present in the tractor vehicle, acting independently of the characteristics and the semitrailer technological level. CONTEXTUndoubtedly, innovations in the automotive sector provides a great competitive advantage to any company. However, the innovative process is not simple, due the technological and commercials uncertainties that a disruptive project presents. For these reasons, there isn't many innovative technology-based companies (startups) in this sector. Even in this scenario, the Truck Vision Company, a Brazilian startup, decided to innovate from a difficulty observed in the clients: Despite all the technology embedded, in some situations still required a great driver's skills to maneuver articled vehicles.
