Compact ultrawideband MIMO dielectric resonator antennas with WLAN band rejection

Abstract: A new compact configuration of ultrawideband (UWB) multiple‐input–multiple‐output (MIMO) dielectric resonator antennas (DRAs) with wireless local area network (WLAN) band rejection is proposed. The antenna arrangement consists of two identical inserted rectangular DRAs excited by two microstrip feeds, with an overall compact size of 29 × 29 × 5 mm3. To enhance isolation and improve impedance bandwidth, a stub connected to the ground is added to the bottom plane of the substrate. Further, to reduce interference… Show more

“…So its minimization is need to be lowered and should be 220 dB from a reasonable interaction point of view. In case of DRA also, some approaches [167][168][169][170][171][172][173][174][175][176][177] have been adopted targeting particularly to reduce the mutual interaction or coupling.…”

“…Nasir et al have used linear pattern correction method to compute complex weight of array element to compensate the effects of mutual coupling. Abedian et al have reported compact MIMO DRA with ultra‐wideband and low mutual coupling characteristics by connecting a stub to the ground plane in‐between two DRAs. Lin et al have used feeding rings under the DRA array with slot windows on the ground plane to enhance the bandwidth up to 38.1%.…”

“…DRs are a promising alternative for conventional metal resonant cavities due to their high Qfactor and smaller size and because they can be easily integrated in microwave integrated circuits (MICs). 3 They find application in DR antennas (DRAs), 237 DR filters 238 and DR oscillators (DROs). 239 DRAs have higher radiation efficiency and significant bandwidth due to the absence of conductor losses.…”

“…Again, some MIMO designs were also proposed [24][25], but the feature of ultra-wide bandwidth is missing. In [26][27][28][29][30][31][32], authors have proposed a new compact DRA based ultra-wideband antenna designed in MIMO configuration. Motivated from [26][27], a new ultra-wideband DRA is presented for MIMO applications in this article, and corresponding results are verified by measurements.…”
