Compact reconfigurable multiple‐input‐multiple‐output antenna for ultra wideband applications

Abstract: This study presents a two element multiple‐input‐multiple‐output (MIMO) reconfigurable antenna for ultra wideband (UWB) applications. Each individual antenna is composed of a modified square radiating patch. The array can be reconfigured by either placing antenna elements orthogonally for corner installation or by placing them back‐to‐back for compact three‐dimensional (3D) modules. The design is fabricated on FR4 substrate having dimensions 40 mm × 37.5 mm × 1.5 mm. Port isolation greater than 20 dB in the co… Show more

“…Such an interval can be determined by measuring TARC of the assessed design and assuring that its value does not overpass an agreed limit. This last argument dismisses to that presented in References , which proclaims that TARC < 0 is a sufficient condition to declare an antenna as suitable for diversity applications.…”

“…Equation is similar to the one reported in References . To satisfy this equation, θ = | φ 11 − φ 12 | = | φ 21 − φ 22 |, a condition that can be accomplished a reduced number of times throughout frequencies, and if and only if the scattering matrix is perfectly symmetrical.…”

“…The wideband designs result in moderate performance of the systems in these particular bands. There are various MIMO antenna designs in literature which include [8], in which two element MIMO system for ultra-wide band (UWB) operation is proposed. The disadvantage of the system is its large size and poor TARC and ECC characteristics.…”
