A small size neutralization line integrated flower-shaped MIMO antenna is designed and analyzed for sub-6 GHz type 5G NR frequency bands like n79 (4400-5000 MHz), n78 (3300-3800 MHz), n77 (3300-4200 MHz), and WLAN (5150-5825 MHz) applications. The novel approach of theory of characteristic mode analysis (TCMA) is introduced to provide physical insight of the designed structure and its characteristics behavior. Due to the suggested modifications in the geometry, the isolation among the patches is greatly increased.The overall miniaturized dimension of the MIMO antenna is 25 Â 40 mm 2 . The edge-edge spacing among the elements is 0.0233λ. The prototype antenna is fabricated and measured that shows good agreement compared with simulated results. The designed MIMO antenna without the presence of decoupling structure offers an isolation of 28 dB, gain of 3.6 dBi, and radiation efficiency of 69.7% at the resonant frequency. The proposed MIMO antenna covers a broad range of frequency band from 3.296 to 5.962 GHz with À10 dB impedance bandwidth of 2666 MHz and maintains a good isolation of greater than 50 dB for the entire operating band. The tested radiation efficiency and gain are 85.3% and 6.22 dBi at 3.5 GHz. Moreover, the diversity parameters of the neutralization line integrated MIMO antenna, that is, channel capacity loss (CCL) isolation, mean effective gain (MEG), total active reflection coefficient (TARC) diversity gain (DG), and envelope correlation coefficient (ECC), are analyzed and discussed in this article.

SummaryA novel antenna system that utilizes multiple‐input and multiple‐output (MIMO) technology to suit the requirements of 5G applications is proposed in this article. The antenna has a wide operating bandwidth and high isolation in n257/n258/n261 5G bands. The suggested arc‐shaped MIMO antenna is composed of four similar patch units with modified ground planes arranged in a four‐port configuration and is made on a Rogers RT/duroid 5880 substrate, which measures 31.891 × 37.5885 × 0.508 mm3. The prototype of the suggested MIMO antenna is realized to confirm the obtained simulated results and validate the proposed design. The four‐port MIMO antenna features a broad frequency range of 7.3 GHz from 21.8 to 29.1 GHz, a peak gain of 5.76 dBi at 29 GHz, and a good isolation less than −18 dB. The proposed antenna's MIMO performance is evaluated by analyzing several diversity parameters. The findings of the evaluation demonstrate an envelope correlation coefficient (ECC) value of less than 0.001, a diversity gain (DG) value exceeding 9.995 dB, and an average mean effective gain (MEG) of −3 dB within the operational frequency band. The suggested MIMO antenna's compact size and impressive performance make it a suitable choice for intended n257/n258/n261 5G NR networks.

The development, analysis, fabrication, and measurements of an inset-feed frequency selective surface (FSS) monopole rectangular patch antenna based on the Fabry-Perot cavity (FPC) principle were discussed in this paper. The proposed antenna is fabricated on two pieces of flame retardant-4(FR4) substrate (FSS reflector) and RT Duroid 5880 substrate (main radiating patch) of equal size 49mm×49mm×1.6mm. The use of FR4 controls the cost of the antenna while the RT Durid maintains low losses and supports improvement in gain and radiation characteristics. The FPC principle is utilized to enhance antenna gain and directional radiation characteristics. The distance between the substrate and FSS layer is evaluated by developing a relationship using a machine learning artificial neural network (ANN) model-based method by speculating the output through iterations and it is validated by the high-frequency structure simulator (HFSS) optimization process. Equally spaced 15 dipole strips FSS layer is used as reflector surface which yields enhanced gain from 4.41dBi to 8.99dBi (∽4.58dBi improvement), unidirectional radiation patterns, and improved front-to-back-ratio (FBR) from 1.7dB to 17.5dB in the E-plane at the design frequency 5.5GHz. The antenna achieves a -10dB bandwidth from 1.12GHz to 8.64GHz (7.52GHz). The measured results are in close agreement with the simulated results. At the end, an electrical equivalent resistor, inductor, and capacitor (RLC) circuit of the proposed antenna has been generated from the antenna reflection coefficient. The reflection coefficient of the RLC equivalent circuit of the proposed antenna is validated using advanced design system (ADS) software. Since the antenna has ultra-wideband (UWB) performance, therefore it is most suitable for wireless 3G/4G/5G and Sub-6GHz lower frequency range (FR1), satellite, and RADAR communications.
