Compact D-CRLH Structure for Filtering Power Divider

Abstract: This research work introduces a compact dual composite right/left handed (D-CRLH) unit cell structure for filtering power divider (FPD) application. The D-CRLH unit-cell consists of an interdigital capacitor with two shorted fingers in series. It contains a meander line, a rectangular stub, and a via in shunt, both series and shunt elements provide filtering response as a bandpass filter. This design has been developed on dielectric material of thickness 1.6 mm, usually called as Epoxy glass substrate (FR-4). … Show more

“…In recent years, there has been a growing need for miniaturization and bandwidth extension in modern wireless communication systems. To achieve a reduction in circuit size, the composite right-left handed (CRLH) unit is utilized to replace traditional transmission line (TL) branches, as demonstrated in articles [19,20]. Ultraminiaturized wideband bandstop filters and miniaturized wideband bandpass filters with frequency-dependent complex source and load have been realized using integrated passive devices (IPD) technology in [21,22].…”

“…In a Wilkinson power divider (WPD), a passband filter structure was used in place of a quarter-wave transmission line (QTL) to get both the power division response and filter response [3][4][5]. There have been a number of high-performing single passband FPDs grounded on WPD structure, substrate-integrated waveguide (SIW) configuration, and dual-composite right-left handed (D-CRLH) structure that has been studied in the past [6][7][8]. A bandpass along with two lowpass filters has been replaced with conventional WPD to attain filtering behavior [6].…”

“…It includes an interdigital capacitor between two complementary split-ring resonators. To produce the miniaturized FPD, a band-pass filter (BPF) using a D-CRLH structure was replaced with QTL in a WPD [8]. Due to the rising need for multi-frequency modern wireless technologies, the requirement for multiband FPDs is of the highest importance at the moment.…”

“…In these design schemes, the coupled lines play the role of fltering and splitting at the same time. For the FPD with the same structure, dual-composite right/left handed (CRLH) unit was adopted for achieving better isolation [15].…”
