WSTĘPObecność metali ciężkich w ściekach powoduje wiele problemów technologicznych spowodowanych ich toksycznością w odniesieniu do biocenoz biorących udział w procesach biologicznego oczyszczania ścieków. Dotyczy to w szczególności najbardziej rozpowszechnionego sposobu oczyszczania ścieków metodą osadu czynnego W tym kontekście toksyczne wła-sności metali ciężkich można określić w sposób ilościowy różnymi metodami, mierząc zmiany szybkości zużywania substratów, zmiany aktywności wybranych enzymów oraz zmiany szybkości wzrostu biomasy [Łabużek and Chmielowski 1978, Miksch 1983].Począwszy od lat pięćdziesiątych ubiegłego wieku opublikowano szereg prac opisujących toksyczność metali ciężkich w procesie osadu czynnego [Bagby and Sherrard 1981, Barth et al. 1965, Lamb and Tollefson 1973, Poon and Bhayani 1971, Sujarittanonta and Sherrard, 1981.Autorzy cytowanych prac przyjmowali zało-żenie, że w badanych warunkach ilość biomasy osadu jest stała, co było uzasadnione ze względu na stosunkowo krótki czas potrzebny do wyznaczenia szybkości oddychania osadu. Jako materiał badawczy stosowano osad czynny pobrany z oczyszczalni ścieków o nieokreślonym wieku i nieokreślonym stanie fizjologicznym.Jako następny pojawił się problem dotyczący wpływu metali ciężkich na proces wzrostu bio- STRESZCZENIEOkreślono przydatność równań Esenera i Monoda do opisów stanów nieustalonych w ciągłej hodowli mikroorganizmów. W przypadku odpowiedzi reaktora na skokową zmianę szybkości wymywania stwierdzono zadowalającą zgodność z danych doświadczalnych z numerycznymi rozwiązaniami równania Monoda i Esenera. Bardzo dobra zgodność danych doświadczalnych i rozwiązań numerycznych w przypadku odpowiedzi pseudo-ustalonej na prostokątną zmianę szybkości wymywania. Rozpatrując odpowiedzi reaktora na zmianę stężenia inhibitora można zaobserwować dobrą zgodność odpowiedzi impulsowej i skokowej oraz duże rozbieżności w przypadku periodycznych zmian stężenia inhibitora.Słowa kluczowe: ciągła hodowla biomasy, inhibicja, modelowanie procesów RESPONSE OF MODELING OF CONTINUOUS BIOMASS CULTIVATION TO CHANGES OF DILUTION RATE AND INHIBITOR CONCENTRATION ABSTRACTTo utility of Esener and Monod equations was evaluated for non-steady state conditions. In the case of the reactors response to a pulse and step changes of dilution rate, a satisfactory agreement of the experimental data with the numerical both Esener and Monod models results were confirmed of the experiment. A very good agreement of experimental data with numerical solutions was observed in the case of pseudo-steady response to retrangular wave change of diluton rate. Analyzing the reactor response to the inhibitor concentration changes, a good concordance experimental data with calculated values of sudden changes was observed, and a distinct disareement in cases of pulse and step changes of the inhibitor concentration. In the reactor response to the retrangular wave change of inhibitor concentration the difference between experimental and calculated data was observed.
