Collagen-chitosan scaffold modified with Au and Ag nanoparticles: Synthesis and structure

Abstract: Nowadays, the dermal biomimetic scaffolds are widely used in regenerative medicine. Collagen-chitosan scaffold one of these materials possesses antibacterial activity, good compatibility with living tissues and has been already used as a wound-healing material. In this article, collagen-chitosan scaffolds modified with Ag and Au nanoparticles have been synthesized using novel method-the metal-vapor synthesis. The nanocomposite materials are characterized by XPS, TEM, SEM and synchrotron radiation-based X-ray t… Show more

“…Thus, the observed changes in parameters can be explained by the significant contribution of the surface silver atoms . In addition, a distorted local structure of AgNPs also contributes to the effect .…”

“…It has been demonstrated that MVS can be employed for successful preparation of gauze bandage loaded with AgNPs with pronounced antibacterial activity against S. aureus , Staphylococcus haemolyticus , P. aeruginosa , Klebsiella pneumoniae , Escherichia coli , and Moraxella spp . The composite metal‐bearing materials based on commercially available collagen–chitosan dressing material for treatment of wounds and burns were prepared by means of MVS .…”

“…Chitosan is polysaccharide, which can be obtained during deacetylation of chitin . Chitosan is also often applied as a biomaterial because it promotes wound and burn healing during skin regeneration . Chitosan can be used for drug delivery system, surgical thread, and as a component of wound dressing materials .…”

“…Silver nanoparticles may have different sizes, morphology, and stability depending on methods of preparation . Material based on collagen/chitosan and silver nanoparticles was already synthesized as a three‐dimensional (3D) scaffold for regenerative medicine . The aim of this work was to obtain new composite based on collagen/chitosan films with silver nanoparticles in order to obtain new material with antimicrobial properties for the potential biomedical application as a wound dressing material.…”
