The study of language in society is known as sociolinguistics. People have varied communication techniques in society since they come from different origins and ethnicities. Because of these distinctions, they are able to blend their languages during an interaction, a process known as code-mixing. Nowadays, code-mixing has become a craze, with people using it all around the world, including on television shows. One of the television shows where the speakers conduct code-mixing throughout their discussion is MasterChef Indonesia season 5. The goal of this study was to identify the different types of code-mixing and to investigate the elements that influence people's decision to code mix throughout their contact with that television show. The study's data consisted of Indonesian-English code-mixing during discussions. The authors employed a descriptive method in their work, and they analyzed the different types of code-mixing using Muysken's (2000) theory. Beardsmore's idea (1982) was also utilized to investigate the causes that led to people mixing codes. Based on the data analysis, the insertion kind of code-mixing was found to be the most common in this program, and vocabulary was shown to be the most influential factor in persons who code mixed.

Society and language cannot be separated, both have a relationship where society can be formed by the language they use. The diversity of languages used by teachers and students in EFL classroom interaction at MAN Katingan represents the existence of a bilingual or multilingual community. This research was conducted to describe how is the language use in EFL classroom interaction. The type of this research was descriptive research using the qualitative method. The subject were one of the English teachers and the students of the eleventh grade of MAN Katingan. The data collection was done by questionnaire using a google form to students and interview was done to the English teacher. The result showed the use of language at MAN Katingan in EFL classroom interaction was varied enough. Based on the students’ view, teacher and students used 24,7% English, 40,4% Indonesian, 8,4% Banjarese, 0,9% Dayakese, and 26,2% mixed the language or used code-switching and code-mixing in EFL classroom interaction. On the other hand, the teacher stated that she mostly used code-switching and code-mixing. Sometimes, she used the local language to interact with the students in her EFL classroom.Keywords: language use: EFL: classroom interaction: sociolinguistics study

This research aims to analyze language code switching and code mixing used by teacher during English teaching learning process at SMP Negeri Kamang 2 Magek. This research focused on describing the reason of code mixing and code switching used by the teachers during English teaching learning process. Researcher interested due to the phenomenon of diversity of the language code switching and code mixing is that decide the reason of language code switching and code mixing by the teachers during English teaching learning process. In this research the researcher used the teachers' utterances to collect the data. This research is descriptive research to describe and analyze the language code switching and code mixing used by the teachers during English teaching learning process. The data of this research consist of voice recorder, observation, interview and direct note that are deemed take by a recorder during English teaching learning process start from begins until the teaching learning process ends. The subjects of this research are three English teachers. From the data collection that has been transcribed by narrow transcription and descriptive qualitative data analysis techniques is discovered that the teachers used code switching and code mixing caused by language input because of the teachers are from Minangkabau and in daily communication the teachers and the students used Bahasa Indonesia as the first language and Minangkabaunese as a native language. The finding stated that sometimes the teachers used code switching or code mixing from English into Minangkabaunese. So that it is discovered the reason of language code switching and code mixing by the teachers during English teaching learning process. The research concludes that generally teachers still do more language code switching and code mixing during English teaching learning process in the form of Indonesian and Minangkabaunese. The teachers used code switching and code mixing was not caused by weaknesses or deficiencies in speaking English and mastering English during the teaching learning process. But the teachers used code switching and code mixing because of the teacher's skills to make students understand the lesson easily. The teachers use language code switching and code mixing also to develop intimacy, to reproof and to explain the material to understanding enhancement of the students who all had pedagogical purposes.
