“…Interestingly, four base pair (AACA, 1612–1615) is consistently missed in the IS Ecp1 - bla CTX-M-55 - orf477 operon (3090 bp) in both pE15017 and pA31-12, in relative to the counterpart (3094 bp) in pHN122-1(Fig 3D) [31]. In fact, the IS Ecp1 - bla CTX-M-55 transposition unit flanked by DR was also recently observed in the Salmonella plasmid pSCS23 (KU934209) as shown in Fig 3 [29]. …”

“…Previously, the co-occurrence of ESBL and MCR-1 had been found on the IncHI2-type plasmids from E . coli and Salmonella enterica [20,29]. Similar to the other mcr-1 -carrying plasmid, pA31-12 (Fig 3D) [30], pE15017 might be an additive example of IncI2-type plasmid with above two antibiotic resistance determinants.…”

“…The IncI2 plasmid has also been found to carry blaKPC-3 or blaCTX-M genes including blaCTX-M-55 in isolates recovered pets and food animals in China (13). Furthermore, co-localization of mcr-1 with blaCTX-M-55 on IncI2 plasmid has been recognized in E. coli and Salmonella enterica isolates recovered from chicken in China (14,15). Other mcr-1-coding IncI2 plasmids derived from food animals in Japan have been recently reported by Suzuki et al (3).…”

“…To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of an IncY plasmid carrying the mcr-1 gene. To date, the mcr-1 gene has been found in seven different plasmid incompatibility groups (IncI2 [20], IncFII [21], IncX4 [22], IncHI1 [15], IncHI2 [23], IncP [22], and IncF [10]), suggesting the wide distribution and high dissemination capacity of mcr-1-carrying plasmids. Given the fact that many phage-related genes are encoded by pMCR-1-P3 and most are homologous to the complete E. coli genome (GenBank accession number CP007392), this plasmid was likely formed via homologous recombination from a prophage that was originally located in the E. coli genome.…”
