CM-Biquad Filter Using Single DO-VDBA

Abstract: In this manuscript we present a current mode biquad using one dual output-voltage differencing buffered amplifier (DO-VDBA) and four passive components (2 grounded capacitors and 2 resistors). The proposed circuit offers very low active and passive sensitivity. The filter presented here is electronically tunable, frequency of oscillation (FO) can be tuned by controlling transconductance (g m ) by varying the bias current (I B ) of the circuit. The workability of proposed circuit is tested using PSPICE with 180… Show more

“…Additionally, all properties of the proposed mixed-mode filter are mentioned and compared with the previous related works in Table 1. Furthermore, Table 2 presents a comprehensive comparison illustrating the superiority of the proposed mixed-mode universal filter over the earlier reported relevant VDBA-based biquad configurations [50][51][52][53][54][55][56][57][58]. As can be observed, no earlier VDBA-based filter realization can be operated in all four modes of operation.…”

“…The passive components used for their realizations are all floating. Although the works proposed in [54,56] use a single VDBA as an active element, they suffer from operating in only a single mode and using at least four floating passive components. The paper is organized as follows, Section 2 describes the VDBA.…”

“…Reported VDBA-based universal biquadratic filters have three major limitations that severely curtail their application spectrum, which are: (a) non-availability of all five filter responses, (b) the employment of floating passive components, and (c) passive component matching constraints. It can be inferred from the comparative study that out of the 30 designs available in the literature; only 15 can provide all five filter responses in either VM and CM mode [23,26,[34][35][36]39,[41][42][43][44][45][46][47][48][49]52]. Most importantly, none of the VDU-based filter structures can operate in mixed-mode configuration.…”
