Close-Spaced Sublimation of CdZnTe:In Films for Solar Energy Water Splitting

Abstract: CdZnTe:In (CZT:In) films were deposited on fluorine-doped tin oxide-coated (FTO) substrates by close-spaced sublimation method, and the structural, morphological, and optical properties of CZT:In films with different thicknesses were studied in detail. Working as a photoanode, the photoelectrochemical (PEC) properties of CZT:In films were investigated, which indicated that the photocurrents of CZT:In films were first increased and then decreased with the increase of film thicknesses under the same bias voltage… Show more

“…Thin films of cadmium telluride and CdZnTe solid solution based on it are widely used in the creation of solar cells [1][2], as well as devices in the infrared (IR) and terahertz (THz) range [3, 4 and references]. CdZnTe, in contrast to CdTe, differs in the presence of Zn ions, which improves its mechanical properties (increase microhardness) and enhances the bond covalence.…”

“…This system demonstrated STH conversion efficiency of over 0.78% with high stability . Designing and constructing hybrid photoanodes with various ranges of light absorbers were essential for developing effective and efficient water splitting systems. , Recently, perovskite-based materials have been widely applied as photocatalysts for water splitting applications. The photocatalytic activity of perovskite is predominantly determined by B-site elements. In perovskite, there are two main groups of elements that can act as an active site (B) of cation components.…”

“…CdZnTe is considered one of the most significant chalcogenide materials and belongs to the II-VI ternary semiconductor compound. It is a promising candidate for several technological applications, such as in optoelectronics and tandem solar cells [20][21][22], optoelectronics [23], and radiation detectors [19,20,[24][25][26], as it is used as a photoanode for watersplitting applications [27].…”
