Cloprostenol and pregnant mare serum gonadotropin promote estrus synchronization, uterine development, and follicle-stimulating hormone receptor expression in mice

Abstract: ABSTRACT. This study investigated the effects of pregnant mare serum gonadotropin (PMSG) and cloprostenol (CLO) on estrus induction and synchronization, uterine development, and follicle-stimulating hormone receptor (FSHR) expression in mice. A total of 105 Kunming pre-puberty mice were divided into seven subgroups. Three PMSG subgroups were injected intraperitoneally with 10, 20, and 40 IU PMSG twice (on days 0 and 4), and three CLO subgroups were injected intraperitoneally with 10, 15, and 20 μg cloprostenol… Show more

“…In addition, the expression of GHR was not correlated with the change of insulin-like growth factor (IGF-I) concentration postpartum in the liver [20]. FSHR has significance regarding the modulation of animal reproductive functions [10,23]. Moreover, previous studies found that the FSH could accelerate the maturation rate of sheep oocytes and reduce their apoptosis rate, increase the expression levels of FSHR, LHR and gonadotropin releasing hormone receptor (GnRHR) mRNAs, and strengthen expressions of FSHR and GnRHR proteins [21].…”

“…Oestrogen deficiency has been suggested to be the predominant cause of post-menopausal osteoporosis ( 1 ). Accompanied by the withdrawal of sex steroids in mammals, serum levels of the pituitary hormone follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) are markedly increased ( 2 , 3 ). FSH exhibits osteoclastogenic and proresorptive actions in a Gi2α-coupled FSH receptor (FSHR) identified in human and mouse osteoclasts and their oestrogen-independent precursors ( 4 ).…”

“…Our previous investigation demonstrated that synthesis and secretion of LH and FSH are increased in mice following intramuscular injection of 10, 20, or 40 IU eCG (previously known as PMSG) (Wei et al, 2015). In the current study, we showed that expression of FSHR, LHR, and GnRHR mRNA and protein increased as the concentration of eCG in IVM medium was raised.…”
