Clinical significance of microRNA-200 and let-7 families expression assessment in patients with ovarian cancer

Abstract: Ovarian cancer (OC) represents the most lethal malignancy in gynaecologic oncology practice and shows a high recurrence rate due to its early chemoresistance to first-line chemotherapy. Yet, timely selection of the correct treatment strategy is likely to prolong a patient's survival. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a class of short non-coding RNAs responsible for the expression of 30%-60% of human genes. In numerous studies, miRNAs have been used to provide the overall prognosis for patients and analyse the process's p… Show more

“…Abnormally expressed miRNAs in tumors play an important role in regulating metastasis, proliferation, multidrug resistance and even the self-renewal and differentiation of cancer stem cells [28]. MiRNAs have been used as markers to predict ovarian cancer sensitivity to platinum and taxane chemotherapeutic agents, which significantly improve treatment outcomes [29]. Some microRNAs are not conducive to cancer outcomes, such as microRNA-4491, which enhances proliferation and inhibits apoptosis in nonsmall cell lung cancer cells [30].…”

“…With mRNA > miRNA, partial repression is only possible. In B, the effect of multiple mRNA per miRNA is indicated competing for the same miRNA; C the coordination of families is indicated compensating for the competition of multiple mRNA and mRNA diseases, development and cancer (Li and Mao 2007;Howe et al 2012;Servin-Gonzalez et al 2015;Granados-Lopez et al 2017;Jiang et al 2017;Balzano et al 2018;Yin et al 2018;Pinchi et al 2019;Ferneza et al 2021;Gregorova et al 2021). The family members can vary from 2 to 30 members (e.g.…”

“…A Let-7 tem demonstrado atuar como reguladores diretos de alguns importantes oncogenes como HMGA2, STAT3, UHRF2, MYC, RAS e IGF. A desregulação de miRNAs Let-7 tem sido também relacionada em meduloblastoma e câncer de pulmão (LARREA et al, 2016;FERNEZA et al, 2021;FIALA et al, 2020).…”
