Clinical manifestations and effects of primary percutaneous coronary intervention for patients with delayed pre-hospital time in acute myocardial infarction

Abstract: These findings indicate that patients with ET>12 h have a less severe condition and less frequently receive primary PCI compared with patients with ET≤12 h. Although primary PCI is often performed for these patients irrespective of the severity of heart failure, no preferable effect of primary PCI on the in-hospital mortality is demonstrated. In contrary, practice of primary PCI is a significant negative predictor of in-hospital mortality for patients with ET≤12 h.

“…The time from symptom onset to door of PCI facility (OTD) is noteworthy since the OTD time accounts for the greatest percentage of total ischemic duration [11,12]. A decrease in OTD time may be key to prevent sudden death in the acute phase or improvement of medium or long-term mortality by shortening the total ischemic time.…”

“…However, because the right ventricle is located under the sternum, early recognition rupture of the right ventricle can be difficult [4]. There are also patient characteristics that can affect the outcome, including older age, female gender, and diabetes mellitus, which were all present in this case [5].…”
