“…Several factors are reported to be associated with dysphagia. Among the subgroups, differences in prevalence are found: Higher prevalence is reported in DM compared to PM [ 34 , 35 , 36 , 37 ] but also vice versa [ 38 ], in IBM compared to other forms of IIM [ 39 ] and in overlap syndromes compared to other forms of IIM [ 39 ]. In addition, an increased risk of dysphagia is reported in patients with associated malignancy [ 37 , 40 , 41 , 42 , 43 , 44 , 45 ].…”

“…Conversely, the survival rate is associated with dysphagia recovery [ 143 ]. Nevertheless, some studies also reported no association between dysphagia and mortality [ 25 , 35 , 150 ]. Besides mortality, dysphagia is associated with a worse functional status or general condition of the disease [ 24 , 39 , 110 , 151 , 152 , 153 ] and represents a negative predictive factor for further disease progression [ 151 ].…”

“…[3] Çin çalışmasında İAH %48,9, kardiak tutulum %34; Meksika çalışmasında ise DM hastalarında akciğer tutulumu %17, PM hastalarında %12 sıklıkta bulunmuştur. [11,13] Çalışmamızda hastalarda %3,8 kalp tutulumu, %1,9 akciğer tutulumu gözlendi. Bizim bulgularımızın oranı literatür verilerinden daha düşüktü.…”

“…The mechanisms by which UC increases susceptibility to DM but not PM are yet to be completely elucidated. Past studies observed that DM and PM are characterized with different immunohistological features 40 , cytokine expressions 41 , autoantibodies 42 , clinical course, and prognostic factors 43 . DM and PM also showed discrepant associations with cancer subtypes in previous epidemiology studies 44 .…”
