Clean-up Method of Forchlorfenuron in Agricultural Products for HPLC Analysis

Abstract: A simplified method for the determination of forchlorfenuron in agricultural products by HPLC with UV detection was investigated. A chopped sample homogenate from agricultural products was extracted with acetone. The extract was filtrated and concentrated. The residues was loaded onto a Chem Elut column and extracted with ethyl acetate. The crude extract was purified on Oasis HLB and Bond Elut PSA mini-columns using a mixture of methanol and ethyl acetate. Forchlorfenuron was analyzed by HPLC with UV detection… Show more

“…Recently, Negre et al (2014) reported similar dissipation behavior of CPPU in kiwifruits and a half life time of 10 days. Consequently negligible CPPU residues in kiwifruits were expected at harvest (5 months after CPPU application), as was also reported by Patterson Kobayashi et al (2007) and Negre et al (2014). All these reports support the late EU decision for amending the existing MRLs for CPPU.…”

“…In parallel, since the consumers awareness for residues of synthetic growth regulators in crops is increasing, the dissipation rate of the CPPU in the kiwifruits was determined using the QuEChERS extraction and HPLC analysis. Analytical methods including high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC/MS-MS) and liquid chromatography time-of-flight mass spectrometry (LC/TOF-MS) were used to determine CPPU residues in different matrices (Kobayashi et al, 2007;Valverde et al, 2007). Previous studies have also investigated its dissipation in various fruits and vegetables (Chen et al, 2013;Negre et al, 2014).…”
