“…Sakallı's study however has additionally found that men exhibit higher levels of protective paternalism, while in Ayan's study, women have higher mean scores in benevolent sexism. Both studies reflect results derived from working with university students (Ayan, 2014;Sakallı-Uğurlu 2010). In a study comparing hostile sexism and benevolent sexism scores in 16 countries in the Middle East and Australia, Latin America, Europe, including Turkey and Syria, it was found that when the scores of men's hostile sexism scores in all the countries were compared with those of the women's, the men's scores were higher.…”

“…A study by Glick et al in which the researchers compared data collected from 16 countries largely representing university students and certain segments of the population revealed results that differ from those derived from the Turkish population in that hostile sexism scores in that study were higher than the benevolent sexism scores (Glick et al, 2004). In Ayan's study of university students (n=422), it was reported that the mean scores on the scale were higher than the findings in the present study but that the scores of the students in benevolent sexism and its subscales revealed an outcome parallel to the present study, with higher scores exhibited in this subscale compared to hostile sexism scores (Ayan, 2014). The work of Ercan with students and university personnel from two different universities, a group of 385 individuals at an average age of 27.3 years, shows consistency with the results of the present study (Ercan, 2009).…”
