Chronopotentiometric Deposition of Nanocobalt Oxide for Electrochromic Auxiliary Active Electrode Application

Abstract: A dense nanofilm of Co 3 O 4 is synthesized using constant current electrodeposition on a conducting transparent electrode that works not only as a counter electrode but also shows electrochromic (EC) properties on its own. The isolated active nano-Co 3 O 4 electrode shows reduction in the redox potential and good color contrast between its yellowish transparent and dark states at different bias conditions. The electrode shows improved color contrast, stability, and cycle life. In situ spectroelectrochemical s… Show more

“…Easy and accurate cyclic voltammetry (CV) measurements help to understand the oxidation process for detecting glucose with high sensitivity at a low detection limit (LOD) and help also to optimize the operation voltage for power-efficient function . The above-mentioned oxides and their nanostructures also show electrochromic properties by exhibiting bias-dependent color modulation. Such electrochromic devices also have the capability of helping to achieve an energy device like a supercapacitor, thus showing multifunctional properties. , Interestingly, the underlying mechanism of an electrochromic device’s operation is based on the active materials’ redox activity . Thus, developing the above-mentioned metal oxides in the appropriate nanoarchitecture may help to get a device/electrode for dual application in electrochromism and glucose sensing …”

“…PEO solution was filtered through a 0.45 μm PTFE filter before mixing it with EV solution. The films of PB were electrochemically [42,43] deposited on ITO-coated glass substrate using Keithley 2450 workstation. Various steps involved in the formation of PB film and recipe for device fabrication are given in Supporting information (SI).…”
