“…These mediators activate epithelial cells to release additional chemokines and chemotactic factors, such as vascular adhesion molecule (VCAM) and intercellular adhesion molecule (ICAM), which stimulate the migration of neutrophils to the target tissues, such as the liver, lungs and kidneys [29,30]. A number of previous studies have shown that different molecular weights of chitosan have a range of antiinflammatory actions, including inhibition of the production of TNF-α, IL-6, prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), VCAM-1 and ICAM-1 in vitro [17,[31][32][33]. The data we presented here demonstrate that chitosan oligosaccharides significantly inhibit the production of systemic levels of proinflammatory cytokines TNF-α and IL-1β in vivo.…”

“…CDAs, like PgtCDA, thus emerge as a powerful tool for the production of defined paCOS that cannot currently be produced in any other way. These paCOS can be further analyzed for their structurefunction relationships and used in various applications, such as plant protection or biomedicine, based on their biological activities (4,76).…”

“…Both ferulic acid and glycol chitosan have neuroprotective effects, such as antioxidation and -inflammation. [16][17][18][19][20][21][22] . The analgesic, buprenorphine (0.05-0.10 mg/kg), was administered every 12 h through subcutaneous injection for the first 3 days postsurgery for postoperation pain management.…”
