Chitosan/NaF Particles Prepared Via Ionotropic Gelation: Evaluation of Particles Size and Morphology

Abstract: The aim of this work was to perform an analysis of the influence of Sodium Fluoride (NaF) on chitosan particles size and morphology produced via ionotropic gelation with higher rotational stirring speed. Samples were characterized by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS), Zeta Potential (ζ), Scanning Electron Microscopy and Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (SEM/EDS). Chitosan/TPP particles diameter obtained was in the order of 3.8 µm. When NaF was added in different conce… Show more

“…The peak at 1719 cm −1 was attributed to C=O stretching vibration, while the peak at 1120 cm −1 to asymmetric stretching vibration of C-O-C bridge [ 31 ]. The characteristic peaks of TPP at 1212, 1136 and 884 cm −1 corresponded to P=O stretching vibration, asymmetric and symmetric vibration in O-P=O groups and asymmetric stretching vibration of P-O-P bridge, respectively [ 32 ].…”

“…e signals in the region of 3700-2800 cm −1 in the CH spectra (Figures 2(a), and 2(b) (1)) correspond to the stretching vibrations of the O-H, N-H, and C-H bonds [9,32]. e bands located at 1648 cm −1 and 1557 cm −1 arise from the symmetric stretching vibrations of the carbonyl and amino groups, respectively [9,33]. ), blank and with extract, shift to 1636 cm −1 and 1542 cm −1 , respectively.…”

“…In 2018, Furtado et al reported the synthesis of chitosan and sodium fluoride (Ch-NaF) nanoparticles using this method [ 72 ]. This method is generally considered safe since it removes the dangers and toxicity that are associated with the use of organic solvents; it is also considered simple and easy with the use of an aqueous medium [ 62 ].…”
