Chitosan as a coating material in enhancing the controlled release behaviour of zinc hydroxide nitrate–sodium dodecylsulphate–bispyribac nanocomposite

Abstract: The aim of this study is to modulate the controlled release properties of zinc hydroxide nitrate-sodium dodecylsulphatebispyribac (ZHN-SDS-BP) nanocomposite, by coating the nanocomposite using chitosan. This study was conducted as part of an effort to reduce the environmental problems caused by the over-use of pesticides. The characterisation study shows that chitosan had been successfully coated onto the outer surface of the ZHN-SDS-BP (BP concentration of 0.05 M) without changing the types of ions intercalat… Show more

“…The loss of the wave number indicates the loss of lignin compounds. In the IR spectrum of cellulose xanthate, IR vibration peaks appeared at 520 cm -1 (C-S), 1000 cm -1 (C=S), and 1117 cm -1 (S-C-S), indicating the reaction of xanthate formation [49,50]. According [51], wave numbers 580, 1030, and 1156 cm -1 indicate the presence of C-S, C=S, and S-C-S groups, which are xanthate groups.…”

“…All chemicals and reagents in this study were of analytical grade and used without further purification. Zinc hydroxide nitrate-sodium dodecylsulfate bispyribac (ZHN-SDS-BP) nanocomposite was synthesized according to the method previously reported [15]. The pH of phosphate-buffer solutions (PBS) was prepared by mixing the stock solution of 0.1 M potassium dihydrogen phosphate (KH 2 PO 4 ) and 0.1 M dipotassium hydrogen phosphate (K 2 HPO 4 ) (Merck, Germany).…”

“…Web of Science and PubMed databases were used for literature search to find relevant studies assessing the safety and toxicity of curcumin or turmeric in animals and humans [17]. The keywords and search terms that were used included Curcuma longa, toxicity, safety, turmeric, curcuminoids, oral administration, intravenous administration, intraperitoneal administration, pathological effects, adverse effects, mutagenicity, genotoxicity, cytotoxicity, reproductive toxicity, double-blind randomized placebo controlled clinical trials, acute toxicity, sub-acute, and sub-chronic toxicity [18,19].…”
