Objective: To translate and perform the cross-cultural adaption of the CD:H scale for use in Paediatric Dentistry in Brazilian Portuguese language. Material and Methods: The translation and cross-cultural adaptation of the CD: H was carried out in four stages: 1) translation of the instrument; 2) reverse translation (back translation); 3) cross-cultural adaptation, and 4) face validation. Face validation consisted of the evaluation of 30 subjects from the target population. A pilot study was conducted with 15 children aged 5-10 years treated at a university dental clinic and their drawings were analysed by two dentists. Data were analysed using Stata 12.0. Results: In the face validation, most items were understood; however, some words were changed, and terms were included to identify the dental environment. Good reproducibility was obtained: inter-examiner reliability was 0.9647 and intra-examiner reliability was 0.9619 for examiner A and 0.8260 for examiner B. Conclusion: The Brazilian version of the CD:H scale is a useful tool for dentists, helping identify children's emotions and being enjoyable for them.

In recent years, vibrational devices have been introduced in order to reduce patient discomfort in some situations such as orofacial pain, orthodontic therapy, and injection of local anaesthetics. This article aims to review the clinical experience given by the use of these devices in local anaesthesia. The literature search was carried out on the main scientific databases for articles up to November 2022. Eligibility criteria were established, and pertinent articles selected. The results were classified by author, year, type of study, sample size and characteristics, purpose of use, type of vibrational device used, protocol used, and outcomes. Nine relevant articles were found. These are split mouth randomized clinical trials which evaluate the reduction in pain perception with different devices and different protocols of use in children, during procedures which require local analgesia by injection, compared with traditional local anaesthesia with premedication based on anaesthetic gels. Different objective and subjective scales of pain and discomfort perception were used. Although results are promising, some data, such as those relating to vibrational intensity and frequency, are not clear. Evaluations on samples varying by age and context of use are necessary to fully define the indications for this type of aid during oral rehabilitation procedures.

Introdução: A avaliação do atendimento odontopediátrico pelos pais ou cuidadores pode não representar a opinião da criança, sendo assim, conhecer a opinião dessa sobre a vivência tida durante o atendimento é de extrema importância. Objetivos: analisar a percepção de crianças e de seus cuidadores sobre o atendimento de uma clínica escola de odontopediatria. Métodos: Realizou-se um estudo transversal com análise descritiva, com crianças de 6 a 10 anos de idade, em atendimento na Clínica Infantil do curso de Odontologia da Universidade Estadual da Paraíba, Campina Grande/PB. O instrumento desenho-estória com tema foi utilizado com as crianças para avaliar o atendimento recebido. Ao finalizar o desenho, essas fizeram a sua descrição verbal, que foi gravada e transcrita. Para interpretação dos desenhos, utilizou-se a técnica de análise temática proposta por Bardin (2002). O Questionário de Avaliação de Serviços de Saúde Bucal (QASSaB) foi adaptado e aplicado aos cuidadores. Resultados: As crianças destacaram nos desenhos-estória características do ambiente odontológico, como a presença do equipo, do paciente e do cirurgião-dentista. Prevaleceu o tratamento curativo, cujo atendimento foi considerado pelas crianças como humanizado, revelando comportamento positivo na consulta odontológica. Para os cuidadores o atendimento prestado foi satisfatório com informações e esclarecimentos recebidos. O ambiente físico foi considerado organizado, limpo e não barulhento. Houve resolutividade da queixa principal, com possível indicação para outras pessoas. Os cuidadores qualificaram o serviço como excelente/bom. Conclusão: a clínica escola de odontopediatria proporcionou às crianças e aos seus cuidadores uma situação agradável, com percepção positiva em relação ao atendimento recebido.
