ChemInform Abstract: Friedlaender Condensation of o‐Aminobenzaldehyde with Hydroxypyridines.

Abstract

ChemInform Abstract Cyclocondensation of the benzaldehyde (I) with the hydroxypyridines (II) and (VIII) gives the fused heterocycles (III) or (IX) and (X). The latter is prepared independently from the aminoquinolinecarboxylate (XI) and the cyanoacetate (XII). The pyridones (III), (X), and the pyrimidone (VI) are alkylated to form the N-substituted derivatives (V), (VII), and (XIII).
