Chemiluminescence determination of naproxen based on europium(III)‐sensitized KIO4–H2O2 reaction

Abstract: A simple and sensitive chemiluminescence (CL) method combined with flow injection technique was developed for the determination of naproxen. It was based upon the weak CL signal arising from the reaction of KIO(4) with H(2)O(2) being significantly increased by naproxen in the presence of europium(III) ion. The experimental conditions that affected the CL signal were carefully optimized and the CL reaction mechanism was briefly discussed. Under the optimum conditions, the increment of CL intensity was proportio… Show more

“…Wang et al [29] determined ulifloxacin and prulifloxacin using the terbium(III)-sensitized KMnO 4 -Na 2 S 2 O 4 CL system. The NAP molecule has an α,β-diketonates group that can form a complex with trivalent europium ions [20]. In this study, we report a Eu(III)-sensitized Ce(IV)-Na 2 S 2 O 4 CL system catalyzed by Ag NPs to determine NAP.…”

“…Several analytical methods have been reported for determining NAP including spectrophotometry [2,3], fluorometry [4,5], synchronous spectrometry [6], phosphorimetry [7], voltammetry [8,9], liquid chromatography [10,11], capillary electrophoresis [12], high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) [13][14][15], and chemiluminescence (CL) [16][17][18][19][20]. Among the above methods, CL coupled with flow injection offers the advantages of equipment simplicity, high detection sensitivity, low background noise and good reproducibility.…”

“…They include chromatographic method: HPLC [6], TLC with densitometry [7], gas chromatography-mass spectrometry [8], capillary electrophoresis [9], spectrophotometry [10], spectrofluorymetry [11], chemiluminescence [12], potentiometric titration [13] and other electrochemical methods [14]. These methods are characterized by long and complicated preparation of a sample for analysis as well as expensive instrumental apparatus.…”

“…Naproxen is rapidly and completely absorbed after oral administration, and it is the predominant species in serum, with a therapeutic range of 30 to 90 μg mL -1 4 . Naproxen has been determined by several analytical methods like: HPLC [5][6][7] , HPTLC 8 , LC-MS/MS 9,10 , capillary electrophoresis 11,12 , fluorimetric methods 13 , chemiluminescence [14][15][16] , voltammetry 17,18 , solid-phase microextraction coupled with liquid chromatography 19 and spectrophotometry [20][21][22] . Although the HPLC methods are highly sensitive and specific, but they are most expensive.…”
