Chemical Synthesis of Nano-sized Particles of Lead Oxide and their Characterization Studies

Abstract: The quantum dots of semiconductor display novel and interesting phenomena that have not been in the bulk material. The color tunability is one of the most attractive characteristics in II-VI semiconductor nanoparticles such as CdS, ZnS, CdSe, ZnSe and PbO. In this work, the semiconductor lead oxide nanoparticles are prepared by chemical method. The average particle size, specific surface area, crystallinity index are estimated from XRD analysis. The structural, functional groups and optical characters are anal… Show more

“…The wave numbers (cm -1 ) of dominant peaks obtained from absorption spectrum are presented in Table 17. The absorption peak at 462.86 cm -1 indicates the presence of lead [55]. The observed wave numbers for amines, amides and amino acids indicate the presence of protein [56].…”

“…Lead nanoparticles may be synthetized by three different methods, namely, physical, chemical, and green (biological) methods. Recently, several new routes of synthesis of PbO nanostructures have been used, such as chemical synthesis [23], calcination [24], sol-gel pyrolysis [25,26], anodic oxidation [27], solvothermal method [16,28,29], thermal decomposition [30][31][32], chemical deposition [33], microwave irradiation technique [34], and green method [35].…”

“…Alagar et al [23] have synthesized lead oxide (PbO) semiconductor nanoparticles by chemical synthesis. During this synthesis, they prepared 1 M aqueous solution of Pb(C 2 H 3 O 2 ) 2.3 H 2 O in deionized water and heated up to 90°C.…”

“…As shown in Figure 7B, the FITR of all BPO-DDAS-CsPbBr 3 NCs showed a new absorption peak at 1,023 cm −1 compared to CsPbBr 3 NCs and DDAS-CsPbBr 3 NCs, corresponding to the vibration mode of Pb-O (Alagar et al, 2012;Nouri et al, 2017). It is indicated that PbO is formed on the surface of DDAS-CsPbBr 3 NCs after BPO oxidation, which resists the corrosion of water vapor and oxygen to quantum dots, giving the CsPbBr 3 NCs the excellent photostability.…”
