Chemical profile and antioxidant activity of Sesbania bispinosa (Jacq.) W. Wight aerial parts and seeds extracts

Abstract: Sesbania bispinosa (Jacq.) W. Wight is a tropical vegetable belonging to the Leguminosae family, whose origin is uncertain. Still, maybe it is from the Indian subcontinent (Orwa et al., 2009). This species has been introduced in Algeria, more precisely in the Biskra province (South Algeria), where the pedoclimatic conditions are harsh. The station of the ITIDAS (Technical Institute for the Development of Saharan Agriculture) led within the framework of the cooperation project with ACSAD (Applied research progr… Show more

“…However, there is increasing need to provide a scientific basis for the traditional use of different plants and plant parts. For this reason, this study aimed to provide in-depth information on the extraction of essential oil, methanolic extract, biological activities, and mineral compositions of Mentha pulegium L. It is part of an overall program in our laboratory for studying natural food samples relevant to human health and nutrition [ 16 , 17 , 18 , 19 , 20 , 21 ]. The results of this study will be useful in enriching the database of Algerian medicinal herbs, advancing the knowledge on medicinal plants, and deepening the scientific understanding of the medicinal, elemental, and bioactive compounds and antimicrobial properties of Mentha pulegium .…”

“…The temperature was adjusted below the boiling point of hexane. The solvent extract was filtered through Buchner funnel using Whatman No.1 filter paper and condensed in Rotary Flash Evaporator at 45 o C under reduced pressure to obtain the crude extract, which was weighed, to estimate the recovery percentage of each botanical (Larkem et al, 2021).…”
