Chemical kinetics of carbon dioxide with glycidyl methacrylate using immobilized tributylamine supported on poly(styrene-co-vinylbenzyl chloride) as a catalyst

Abstract: A soluble copolymer-supported catalyst containing pendant tributylammonium chloride was synthesized by the radical copolymerization of p-chloromethylated styrene followed by the addition reaction of the resulting copolymer with tributylamine. The absorption rate of carbon dioxide was measured from the absorption experiment into glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) solutions containing the catalyst in a semi-batch stirred tank with a plane gas-liquid interface at 0.1013 MPa. The reaction rate constants of the reaction b… Show more

“…25 Although the immobilization of ILs onto polymers has been studied, [26][27][28][29][30] the design and preparation of highly effective heterogeneous catalysts are still desirable. [31][32][33] We have demonstrated a novel one-step synthesis to cross-linked polymeric nanoparticles (CLPN) via conventional free radical copolymerization without the addition of any stabilizers or surfactants. 34 Herein, imidazole-based highly CLPN via free radical copolymerization of 1-vinyl-3-(2-methoxy-2-oxyl ethyl) imidazolium chloride ([VMIm]Cl) with the cross-linker ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) were prepared.…”

“…C Ai was measured by the pressure measuring method, which involved measuring the pressure difference of CO 2 before and after equilibrium in the gas and liquid phases, similar to a previously reported procedure [28], and the experimental procedure duplicated in detail as previously reported [25].…”

“…Park et al have studied the kinetics of the reaction between CO 2 and oxiranes, such as phenyl glycidyl ether and glycidyl methacrylate (GMA), using catalysts such as Alquat 336 [21], 18-crown-6 [22], Aliquat 336 [23], tetrabutylammonium bromide [24], tetrabutylammonium chloride [25], and tetraethylammonium chloride [26], in series. They presented a model to obtain the reaction kinetics in the heterogeneous reaction system using the measured mass transfer rate of a solute and the reaction rate constants by a pseudo-first-order reaction method based on a An ionic liquid (THA-CP-MS41), trihexylamine-immobilized on chloropropyl-functionalized MCM41, was synthesized by a grafting technique through a co-condensation method and used as a catalyst in the reaction of carbon dioxide with glycidyl methacrylate (GMA).…”

“…The kinetics of the reaction between CO2 and oxiranes, such as phenyl glycidyl ether (PGE) and glycidyl methacrylate, have been studied using catalysts such as Alquat 336 12),13) , 18-crown-6 14) , tetrabutylammonium bromide 15) , tetrabutylammonium chloride 16) , and tetraethylammonium chloride 17) . The reaction rate constants were obtained using the measured absorption rate of CO2, analyzed with the mass transfer mechanism associated with the chemical reactions.…”
