“…Bauhinia divaricata aqueous extract, known in Mexico as "pezunã de vaca", showed a relatively significant hypoglycemic effect in normal mice (Gupta et al, 1980), while the B. megalandra species inhibited the glucose intestinal absorption (Gonzalez-Mujica et al, 2003) in rats. However, the hypoglycemic activity of Bauhinia species has been most extensively researched in B. forficata.…”

“…Bauhinia divaricata has been studied for its hypoglycemic activity and its aqueous extract (obtained from leaves) has shown a relatively significant hypoglycemic effect in normal mice. 11 The anti-hyperglycemic effect of ethanolic extract of Bauhinia tomentosa (Linn.) flower has been evaluated for the management of Streptozotocin induced diabetes, where significant reduction in plasma glucose level has been observed.…”

“…The isolation of β-sitosterol, lupeol, kaempferol-3-glucoside and a 5, 7-dimethoxyflavonone-4-O-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-β-D-glucopyranoside was also reported from the stem of the plant (Duret andParis, 1977, Gupta et al, 1980). A flavonol glycoside, characterized as kaempferol-3-glucoside, was isolated from stem of this plant (Gupta and Chauhan, 1984).…”
