Chemical Constituents from Sargassum fusiforme (Harv.) Setch.

Abstract: Phytochemical investigation of Sargassum fusiforme (Harv.) Setch. led to the discovery of fifteen secondary metabolites, including three sterols, three monoterpenes, five nitrogenous compounds, two fatty acids, and two others. Among them, two compounds are new, while the other thirteen compounds were isolated from S. fusiforme for the first time. The structures of the two new compounds were identified by NMR and HR‐ESI‐MS data analyses, and the absolute configurations were established by comparing the calculat… Show more

“…Sargassum species of the China Sea have been rarely chemically examined, with only three studies reporting three new acylphoroglucinols from S. nigrifoloides , a new C 11 -norisoprenoid from S. naozhouense , and three new sterols from S. fusiforme , making them an understudied resource of bioactive molecules for potential drug discovery efforts. In the course of our continuing research on bioactive metabolites from marine algae of the China Sea, a specimen of S. siliquastrum was collected.…”
