Chemical composition of the essential oil from carnation coniferous (Dianthus acicularisFisch. ex Ledeb) growing wild in Northern Kazakhstan

Abstract: The aim of the study was to investigate volatile compounds from the aerial parts of Dianthus acicularis of the genus Dianthus of the family Caryophyllaceae grown wild in Northern Kazakhstan for the first time. D. acicularis is a typical Trans-Volga-Kazakhstani endemic. D. acicularis has high resistance to the bacterial wilt, a serious disease caused by Burkholderia caryophylli. The qualitative and quantitative compositions of the specimens of the essential oils were analysed by the method of GC-MS. The main co… Show more

“…Components of volatile oils isolated from Dianthus acicularis are chiefly 2-pentadecanone (Fig. 3) and 2-tridecanone, which are presumed to be responsible for the insect repellent activity of this plant (Kirillov et al 2017). According to analyses of the major constituents of Dianthus calocephalus and Dianthus carmelitarum essential oils, the presence of heneicosane, docosane, tetracosane, phytol, 4,4-dimethyl-2-pentene, pentacosane, and hexahydrofarnesyl acetone (Yücel and Yayli 2018).…”

“…Previous works, about some of the Dianthus L. species; Dianthus vanensis, Dianthus aticii, Dianthus aytachii and Dianthus gokayii have been mentioned (Hamzaoğlu et al, 2015a;Erst et al, 2014;İlçim et al, 2013;Vural, 2008;Yılmaz et al, 2011;Cristea et al, 2010b). Literature survive reveled chemical composition and biological activity of Dianthus acicularis, D. caryophyllus, and D. carmelitarum (Turan et al, 2017b;Azadi et al, 2016;Ibrahim, 2016a;Kirillov et al, 2017;Turan, 2015a;Mohammed and Al-Bayati, 2009;El-Ghorab et al, 2006;Bonjar, 2004). Floral fragrance compounds of seven Dianthus species (D. arenarius, D. armeria, D. barbatus, D. deltoides, D. monspessulanus, D. superbus, and D. sylvestris) have also mentioned (Jurgens et al, 2003).…”
