“…Garces et al (23) found no significant association of insulin and HOMA levels with chemerin, as did other independent studies (11,24,25). We found similar results for chemerin in pregnant women with GDM; however, other studies presented an association of chemerin with insulin resistance in pregnancy (26,27). Overall, it appears that chemerin may not be useful in predicting GDM.…”

“…A study conducted on nineteen pregnant females in their first trimester and thirty three in their last trimester showed that Chemerin levels gradually rose during pregnancy and were associated with both BMI and insulin resistance [17]. Another study conducted on Chinese pregnant females showed association of raised serum Chemerin with insulin resistance in obese subjects [18]. Contrary results are reported by Hare et al, as low Chemerin levels were observed in GDM pregnant females (n=nine) compared to normal pregnant women (n=eight).…”

“…Of the 494 articles that were retrieved, 20 were included in the meta-analysis; four were apelin studies [4,6,7,11], nine were chemerin studies [5,8,15,16,[23][24][25][26][27], five were omentin studies [28][29][30][31][32], one study involved both apelin and omentin [12], and one study involved both chemerin and omentin [33]. The 20 studies enrolled 2981 participants, of which 1493 were GDM patients and 1488 were healthy pregnant women (controls) [4-8, 11, 12, 15, 16, 23-33] (Fig.…”
