“…Furthermore, the locality, Canton (¼ Guangzhou), from NMW 17721 lies beyond the distribution range of G. palmatus. While G. chinensis occurs from southern China to northern Vietnam, G. palmatus is endemic to Vietnam (Bobrov 1995;Boulenger 1907;Darevsky 1990;Ota et al 1995;Zaho & Adler 1993;Zhao et al 1999). Stejneger (1932) synonymised G. similignum Smith, 1923 with G. chinensis.…”

“…In Vietnam, Tropidophorus microlepis has been known from Son La (Moc Chau), Lam Dong (Lang Bian, Loc Chau), Dong Nai (Cat Tien) (Smith 1935;Bobrov & Ho 1993;Bobrov 1995;Nguyen & Ho 2002;Nguyen et al 2009). Here we present the first record of the species for Vinh Cuu Nature Reserve (Fig.…”

“…In Vietnam, Tropidophorus sinicus has been reported from Cao Bang (Nguyen Binh), Bac Kan (Ngan Son), and Lang Son (Mau Son) (Bourrert 1937;Bobrov 1995;Hikida et al 2002;Nguyen et al 2009). Herein, we present new records for Bac Giang, Hai Duong, and Quang Ninh Provinces, ca.…”

“…Some researchers assigned Acanthosaura to the genus Gonocephalus (Smith, 1935) or included a number of species of Japalura (another genus of the same subfamily) in Acanthosaura (Boulenger, 1885). In the later half of the 20th century, the majority of researchers accepted the validity of the genus Acanthosaura (Wermuth, 1967;Moody, 1980;Manthey and Schuster, 1992;Ananjeva, 1997;Manthey and Grossmann, 1997), with four species, i.e., A. armata Gray, 1827, A. capra Günther, 1861, A. crucigera Boulenger, 1885, and A. lepidogaster Cuvier, 1829 To date, three species of Acanthosaura ( A. capra, A. crucigera , and A. lepidogaster ) have been recorded in the Vietnamese fauna (Taylor, 1963;Bobrov, 1995;Nguyen and Ho, 1996;Nguyen et al, 2005). The distribution and boundaries of particular species ranges are uncertain, because lizards of this genus are similar in morphology and no distinct diagnostic characters have been proposed.…”
